The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Monaragala, Galle and Matara districts.
According to the advisory, effective until 11.00 pm today (17), red alerts have been issued to 10 districts, while amber alerts have been issued to 07 districts.
Thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Monaragala, Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 pm. (Newswire)
