The Sri Lanka Police has warned the public about fake posts circulating on social media under the heading “Awareness by the Sri Lanka Police Department”, which claim to provide guidance to the public.
Issuing a statement, the Police clarified that all official awareness messages are released only through the Police Media Division, under the proper letterhead as official media releases.
They added that daily updates and notices are published via the official Police account and channel managed by the Media Division.
The Police further stated that if individuals or groups circulate posts falsely claiming to be issued by the Police, steps will be taken to investigate whether such activity is part of a planned operation.
The public is urged to act with caution regarding the content of such posts, with the Police stressing that only official channels should be trusted for accurate information. (Newswire)
