Sri Lanka’s first fully functional tourism mobile application, “Lily Lanka App,” officially registered with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, was launched in Colombo yesterday.
The event was held under the patronage of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath, with the participation of Deputy Tourism Minister Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe and several local and international guests.
The app aims to provide all essential services required by tourists visiting Sri Lanka through a single platform.
Addressing the event, Minister Herath stressed the need for a strong digital infrastructure for tourism, noting that global travel trends are increasingly shaped by digital platforms used for discovering and booking destinations.
He said the initiative aligns with Sri Lanka’s shift toward a digital economy and smart tourism, and is expected to help retain a greater share of tourism revenue within the country.
The minister also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government and industry stakeholders, urging hotels, tour operators and tourism institutions to actively support the platform. (Newswire)
