Sri Lanka has launched a dedicated online portal to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply for the tourism sector, as authorities move to address rising demand amid concerns linked to the Middle East crisis.
According to a communiqué issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, the new system will provide priority fuel access to tourism-related vehicles through a QR code-based mechanism.
The platform, accessible via tourismfuel.sltda.gov.lk, has been introduced with authorization from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), enabling tourism operators to register and obtain fuel allocations required for their services.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe said the move is part of broader measures to maintain stability in the sector, which remains a key contributor to the country’s economy. (Newswire)
