
Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received a telephone call from President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
At the beginning of the call, the president inquired about the situation in Qatar, expressing his country’s solidarity and support in light of the ongoing Iranian aggression against Qatar and other countries in the region.
For his part, the Emir reassured the president about the well-being of the Sri Lankan community in Qatar, affirming the State’s care and concern for all those residing within its borders.
The call also addressed the challenges facing the region, particularly in light of the military escalation and its direct repercussions on the energy sector and supply chains. The president stressed the importance of addressing these challenges through international coordination and cooperation.
The Emir, in turn, affirmed Qatar’s unwavering commitment to its role as a reliable energy partner and its dedication to ensuring the continuity and availability of energy supplies, despite the exceptional circumstances and current challenges.
During the call, both sides stressed the importance of intensifying international and regional efforts to immediately halt the escalation, contain tensions, and consolidate security and stability in the region through diplomatic solutions.
