A shooting has been reported at Yala National Park on Saturday afternoon.
According to Lankadeepa newspaper, a group that arrived in a car had reportedly carried out the shooting. Following the sound of gunfire, officers at the wildlife guard post responded and proceeded to the scene.
Police said the suspected group caused damage to a wildlife department jeep and broke through the gate at the site before fleeing the area.
Nearby police stations have been alerted, and operations have been launched to locate and arrest the suspects, police said.
