A suspect was arrested in the Kandewatta area of Galle while allegedly preparing to throw drugs and other prohibited items over the wall of the Galle Prison, the Police Special Task Force (STF) said.
The arrest was made following information received by STF officers attached to the Akmeemana camp.
The suspect, a 30-year-old resident of Galle, was taken into custody at a house where he was staying.
During the search, STF officers recovered 2 grams and 590 milligrams of ‘ice’ narcotics, 110 grams of tobacco, 540 grams of tobacco sticks, four mobile phones, and 23 mobile phone chargers.
The suspect has been handed over to the Galle Police for further investigations. (Newswire)
