A ballistic missile strike over southern Israel has been captured on a mobile phone by a Sri Lankan expatriate, with dramatic footage showing the moment of impact during the attack.
The video, now circulating on social media, shows a missile striking the Dimona area, sending shockwaves through nearby buildings as sirens blared across the city.
Meanwhile, four Sri Lankans have been hospitalised after sustaining injuries in the same attack, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Israel, Nimal Bandara, said.
According to the Ambassador, the individuals were injured while remaining outdoors and attempting to videograph the incident instead of seeking shelter at designated safe locations. The injuries were caused by shattered glass from nearby buildings following the missile impact.
Glass fragments had struck their heads and other parts of the body, resulting in injuries that required hospitalisation.
Ambassador Bandara noted that such actions violate safety instructions issued by Israeli authorities and urged Sri Lankans in Israel to immediately move to designated shelters upon hearing warning sirens, which are typically sounded a few minutes before a strike.
Sri Lankan authorities have repeatedly stressed the importance of adhering to safety guidelines amid the ongoing security situation in the region. (Newswire)
