Sri Lanka’s inflation eases to 1.6% in February

The overall rate of inflation, as measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI), decreased to 1.6% in February 2026, according to the Department of Census and Statistics.

The department states that the figure reports a decrease in comparison to the 2.4% recorded in January 2026.

Meanwhile, food inflation has decreased to 1.1% in February compared to 3.4% in January this year.

However, non-food inflation has increased to 1.9% in February from the 1.6% reported in January.
