South Asia’s first 4D Angio CT suite and a fully equipped modern dental unit were opened at the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital today under the patronage of Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa, with funding provided by the Government of Japan.

The project, implemented with a financial grant exceeding Rs. 1 billion from the Japanese Government, introduces advanced medical technology that had not previously been available in either Sri Lanka’s public or private hospital systems.

The newly installed 4D Angio CT system is expected to significantly enhance diagnostic and treatment capabilities, enabling faster and more accurate medical interventions for patients.

In addition, a new dental health unit equipped with 10 modern dental chairs was also declared open, improving treatment capacity and expanding access to dental care for patients visiting the hospital.

Addressing the event, Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa stressed that healthcare staff must make maximum use of such advanced technology to provide faster services and reduce patient waiting lists.

He also noted that the Government aims to further develop the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital by modernizing facilities, expanding staff capacity, and updating existing systems to suit present-day healthcare demands, with the objective of transforming it into one of the country’s leading hospitals.
