Police in Meegaswewa have launched an investigation following the discovery of a baby’s body in the Palliyagodella area on Tuesday evening (24).
Authorities said they received information that the remains of a child, believed to be about two days old, had been found on private land.
Officers from the Meegaswewa Police Station conducted inquiries and confirmed the discovery of the body of a baby girl.
The magistrate has ordered a post‑mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
