Fuel transportation will resume as normal from Saturday (28) after the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) agreed to a 25% increase in inter-provincial transport charges, the Lanka Petroleum Private Tanker Owners’ Association said.

The decision follows discussions on Friday (27) between tanker owners and senior CPC officials.

Association Chairman A.M.H. Adhikari said tanker owners had requested the 25% hike, which was approved during the meeting.

“We secured the 25% increase in inter-provincial charges. With a positive response from CPC, both associations unanimously decided to resume distribution from tomorrow morning,” he said.

Adhikari added that the unions had presented four proposals during the meeting and received assurances of favourable solutions.

“Our main demand was updating the delayed pricing formula. A further discussion on this is scheduled for Tuesday (31) at 10.30 a.m., where a final decision is expected,” he said, noting that resolving the pricing formula and other operational issues remained their priority. (NewsWire)
