Indictments were filed before the Colombo High Court today against Minister of Energy Kumara Jayakody.
The Court ordered his release on two sureties of Rs. 1 million each.
The charges stem from his tenure as Manager of the Production and Imports Division of Lanka Fertilizer Company in 2015.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has accused him of unlawfully granting benefits to a private company during a procurement process for carpeting at the Hunupitiya warehouse complex.
Following a complaint and preliminary investigation, the Commission decided to file indictments, which were taken up in court today (27). (Newswire)
