A private passenger bus travelling to Kataragama caught fire on the Southern Expressway near the Welipanna area today.
According to initial reports, the bus had caught fire while travelling along the expressway, prompting passengers to quickly evacuate the vehicle.
Authorities said no injuries were reported in the incident, as all passengers and the driver managed to safely exit the bus before the fire spread.
Firefighters and expressway officials were dispatched to the scene to control the blaze, while traffic in the area was temporarily affected.
