Sri Lanka Post has issued a public warning over an ongoing phishing scam in which fraudsters use fake websites resembling the official Postal Department site to trick customers into making payments.
The scam involves SMS messages claiming a fee must be paid to receive a parcel, directing recipients to fraudulent links where they are asked to enter debit or credit card details. Authorities say victims’ bank accounts are then compromised and funds withdrawn.
The Postal Department said multiple complaints have been received, with a recent surge in such incidents. The matter has been reported to the Criminal Investigation Department and other relevant authorities.
The public is strongly advised not to click on suspicious links or share bank card details or OTP codes with unknown sources. (NewsWire)
