President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says India has provided swift support to Sri Lanka in addressing fuel supply disruptions caused by the ongoing Middle East conflict.
In a social media post, the President said he held discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few days ago regarding the fuel supply challenges faced by Sri Lanka.
The President noted that 38,000 metric tonnes of fuel arrived in Colombo following the discussions, expressing appreciation for India’s timely assistance.
He also thanked India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar for close coordination in facilitating the support.
Sri Lanka has been facing concerns over fuel supply stability amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, which has affected global energy markets and shipping routes. (Newswire)
