Police Narcotics Bureau officers opened fire on a group of suspects attempting to flee in a motor vehicle in Negombo this afternoon (30).
According to police, the suspects were intercepted near a supermarket complex during an operation.
The officers had opened fire after the suspects had failed to heed an order to stop the vehicle for inspection.
Following the incident, two of the fleeing suspects were reportedly taken into custody. (Newswire)
