Warm weather conditions prevailing over Sri Lanka are expected to continue, according to the Department of Meteorology.

However, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Northwestern provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 pm. Mainly dry weather will prevail over the other parts of the island.

Misty conditions can be expected in some places in the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts in the morning.

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle during the evening or night. Mainly fair weather will prevail over the other sea areas around the island.

Winds will be variable in direction. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.

The sea areas around the island will be slight. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
