Special discussion held to maintain quality of Kithul Treacle

A special discussion was held today at the Consumer Affairs Authority to ensure that Kithul treacle sold in the market complies with Sri Lankan standards and to provide consumers with high-quality products.

Representatives from the Consumer Affairs Authority, the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI), and companies engaged in commercial Kithul treacle production participated in the meeting.

During the discussion, officials highlighted the importance of manufacturing Kithul treacle in accordance with Sri Lanka Standards (SLS) and explored future steps to ensure that only high-quality, standardised products are released to the market.

Authorities also decided to hold a follow-up meeting with the participation of other stakeholders connected to the industry to strengthen the process.

Officials said steps will continue to be taken to protect consumer rights and ensure that only quality Kithul treacle is available in the market. (Newswire)
