
Three persons were killed in two separate wild elephant attacks reported in Eppawala and Mahiyanganaya yesterday morning (05), Police said.
According to Police, two individuals were killed following a wild elephant attack in the Amunukole area within the Eppawala Police Division.
The victims, aged 36 and 48, were residents of the Eppawala area. Police said one victim was found dead near the Amunukole tank bund, while the other was discovered in a nearby paddy field after being attacked by the wild elephant.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident reported from the Wewagedara area in the Mahiyanganaya Police Division, a 79-year-old man died after being attacked by a wild elephant in front of his residence.
Police said the victim was admitted to the Mahiyanganaya Hospital with serious injuries but later succumbed to his injuries.
Eppawala and Mahiyanganaya Police are conducting further investigations into the incidents. (Newswire)
