The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has raided a large-scale pet medicine manufacturing facility operating in the Minuwangoda area, uncovering what officials described as a major fraudulent operation.
During the raid, officials found that western medicines used to treat ticks and skin diseases in animals had been mixed with Ayurvedic products and marketed as “100% Natural Ayurvedic Products”.
Authorities said the products had been released to the market with misleading labels, potentially deceiving pet owners into believing they were purchasing fully natural herbal treatments.
The Consumer Affairs Authority warned consumers not to rely solely on “100% Natural” or “Herbal” labels when purchasing pet medicines and urged the public to verify product approvals and authenticity.
Further investigations are underway into the operation. (Newswire)
