US President Donald Trump has warned that countries supplying military weapons to Iran will face immediate economic consequences, while also claiming progress in talks with Tehran following what he described as a “regime change”.

In a statement posted on social media, Trump said any country providing military support to Iran would be subjected to a 50% tariff on all goods sold to the United States.

“A country supplying military weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed, on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions,” Trump said.

In a separate statement, Trump also said the United States would work closely with Iran following what he described as a “very productive regime change”.

“The United States will work closely with Iran, which we have determined has gone through what will be a very productive regime change. There will be no enrichment of uranium, and the United States will, working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried nuclear ‘dust’,” he said.

Trump further claimed that Iranian nuclear facilities are under strict satellite surveillance by the US Space Force and that discussions were underway on tariff and sanctions relief.

“We are, and will be, talking tariff and sanctions relief with Iran. Many of the 15 points have already been agreed to,” Trump added. (Newswire)
