A Sri Lankan national who had overstayed his visa by about nine months was arrested during a pre-dawn operation carried out by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

The 27-year-old man was detained on Thursday (08) following an enforcement raid targeting immigration offenders.

The individual had remained in Singapore after his social visit pass expired on June (28), 2025.

The operation, which began early in the morning, involved advance surveillance teams and officers verifying the suspect’s identity and immigration status before making the arrest under the Immigration Act. (CNA)
