Showers or thundershowers are expected at most locations across the island after 1 p.m. the Department of Meteorology said.
Morning showers or thundershowers may occur in parts of the Western, Southern and Eastern provinces.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and North Western provinces, the Department said.
Showers or thundershowers are also likely at several locations in sea areas extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Colombo, Galle, Hambantota and Batticaloa.
Winds will be southwesterly or variable in direction, with speeds of 20–30 km/h.
Sea conditions will be slight, the Department said. However, temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas may occur during thundershowers, it warned.
Authorities advise the public to take precautions against temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers. (Newswire)
