The national oil anointing ceremony, a key ritual of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, is scheduled to take place tomorrow (15) at 6:55 a.m., in line with the auspicious time stipulated in the Nekath Seettuwa.

Participants are advised to wear green-coloured attire and face the eastern direction during the ritual. Neem leaves should be placed on the head and kolan leaves at the feet, followed by a bath after applying a mixture of neem leaf extract and oil, as outlined in the Nekath Seettuwa.

The state ceremony will be held at the Sri Maha Natha Devalaya within the Sri Dalada Maligawa premises in Kandy.

The event will be conducted under the guidance of the Chief Prelates of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters, with the participation of Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr Nalinda Jayatissa. (NewsWire)
