Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire starting on Thursday, US President Donald Trump said, following talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, according to foreign media.
Trump said he will invite both leaders to Washington for peace talks, expressing confidence that a longer-term agreement could be reached soon.
The development comes amid heightened tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, with the proposed ceasefire seen as a potential first step towards de-escalation.
