Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Uva provinces and in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts after 1.00 pm today (17).
Mainly dry weather will prevail over the other parts of the island.
Misty conditions can be expected in some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Northcentral and Uva provinces and in the Galle, Matara and Kurunegala districts in the morning.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Hambantota via Galle and Matara.
Winds will be southwesterly or variable in direction. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
The sea areas around the island will be slight. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
