Two more bodies have been recovered in connection with the recent drowning incident in Deduru Oya, bringing the death toll to eight (08).
According to the Police, four bodies were initially recovered during search operations conducted this morning, while the final two bodies were recovered later.
The drownings occurred when a group of 15 persons was reportedly swept away while bathing in the Deduru Oya in the Kuratiyagahamula area of Kobeigane yesterday (16).
The Police further state that the recovered bodies have been placed at the mortuary of the Nikaweratiya Hospital.
Among the two people who were rescued yesterday, one person has been discharged, while the other continues to receive treatment at the Nikaweratiya Hospital. (Newswire)
