Police have seized large quantities of narcotics in islandwide operations carried out since October 30 last year, according to the Police Media Division.
During the period, more than 1,418 kg of heroin, over 1,975 kg of crystal methamphetamine (ICE) and more than 271 kg of cocaine were recovered.
Police also seized 5,112 kg of cannabis and detected over 7.35 million cannabis plants during the operations.
In addition, 316 kg of kush, 192 kg of hashish, 627 kg of “madana modaka” and 269 kg of “mawa” were taken into custody.
A total of 158,821 suspects were arrested in connection with drug-related offences, while investigations into illegal assets were initiated against 277 individuals.
Police said detention orders were obtained for 2,579 suspects, and 151,757 raids were carried out during the period.
A further 1,974 individuals were referred for rehabilitation, authorities said. (Newswire )
