A multi-day local fishing vessel suspected of transporting a consignment of drugs has been brought to the Dikowita Fisheries Harbour following a special operation carried out in deep seas south of Sri Lanka.
The vessel was taken into the custody of the Navy yesterday (16). Four suspects on board were also arrested.
The operation was conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy’s long-range maritime patrol units, leading to the interception of the vessel and the apprehension of the fishermen.
The consignment, believed to contain narcotics, is due to be inspected, while the suspects are to be handed over to relevant authorities for further investigations and legal action. (NewsWire)
