An attempted shooting targeting a man who was traveling in a three-wheeler in Ahungalla had been reported last night.
According to Police, the assailant had opened fire using a T-56 type firearm in an attempt to kill the individual.
Based on information received about a suspect linked to the incident, a team of officers from the Ahungalla Police Special Task Force camp conducted a raid at a lodge in the Hegalla area of the Kosgoda Police Division on the same night.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the Ahungalla Police Station.
Police said the suspect was found in possession of 13 grams and 760 milligrams of “ICE”.
The arrested individual is a 45-year-old resident of the Pitagoda area in Kosgoda.
