
Sri Lanka Navy has taken into custody four individuals along with a consignment of suspected narcotics recovered at sea.
The suspects were apprehended on April 17, 2026, while transporting the substances aboard a fishing vessel in deep waters.
The vessel was subsequently escorted to the Dikowita Fisheries Harbour for further action.
Following preliminary procedures, the suspects and the seized items were handed over to officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau for onward investigation.
The suspects are aged 24, 36, 46 and 48, and are reported to be residents of the Devinuwara area, Police said.
Approximately 161 kilograms and 108 grams of suspected Heroin were recovered from the fishing boat, Police said.
The suspects are to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
Further investigations are being carried out by the Police Narcotics Bureau. (Newswire)
