Sri Lanka Police has announced a special traffic plan for the official visit of Indian Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan.

The Indian Vice President is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka from April 19 to April 20, 2026.

Police said the motorcade will depart from Bandaranaike International Airport on the morning of April 19 and travel to Colombo via the Katunayake–Colombo Expressway.

The route will enter Colombo through Grandpass and Orugodawatta Junction, continue along Baseline Road past Borella Junction, and proceed to D.S. Senanayake Junction.

The motorcade will then turn onto Horton Place and pass key locations, including Nelum Pokuna Roundabout and Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha, before continuing through Library Junction and Flower Road Junction.

Near the coastal area, the convoy will reach Liberty Roundabout, turn right, and then left at St. Michael’s Roundabout onto St. Michael’s Road. At the junction with Galle Road, it will turn right and proceed past Galle Face Roundabout before continuing along Galle Face–Galle Middle Road to Taj Samudra Hotel, where official arrival procedures will take place.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the movement of the motorcade to avoid delays.

Police said traffic restrictions may be imposed intermittently along the specified routes on April 19 and 20, depending on operational requirements.

Two hours before the motorcade’s movement, heavy vehicles, including container trucks, prime movers, and tipper trucks transporting materials such as stone, sand, or cement, will not be allowed on these routes. Additional vehicle restrictions may also be enforced during this period.

Police requested motorists and the public to cooperate with the traffic plan during the visit. (Newswire)
