Eight children were killed in a mass shooting in Louisiana after a domestic-related incident that unfolded across multiple locations in Shreveport, according to police.
Authorities said the victims were aged between one and 14 years old. A total of 10 people were shot in the incident, while two adult women survived and were hospitalized.
Police said the suspected gunman, who was believed to be related to some of the victims, fled the scene after the shootings, stole a vehicle and was later shot dead by officers following a pursuit.
Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith described the crime scene as extensive, with multiple homes involved, while Louisiana State Police have joined the investigation.
The shooting has drawn widespread shock across the United States as authorities continue to investigate the motive behind one of the deadliest child mass shootings in recent years. (Newswire)
