
India’s Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan met President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo today for discussions aimed at further strengthening India–Sri Lanka relations.
The two sides held productive talks on deepening multifaceted bilateral ties rooted in shared history, civilisational connections, and strong people-to-people linkages.
Discussions also covered a range of development initiatives, including the Indian Housing Project and projects under a USD 450 million assistance package for Sri Lanka, focused on reconstruction and rehabilitation in areas affected by Cyclone Ditwah, particularly benefiting Indian Origin Tamil communities in severely impacted regions.
Both sides also discussed issues related to fishermen, with an emphasis on addressing them in a humanitarian manner while considering the livelihoods of fishing communities in both countries. (NewsWire)
