
Showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 pm today (20), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North- central and Southern provinces and in the Kurunegala district.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts in the morning.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Hambantota via Kankasanthurai, Trincomalee and Pottuvil.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle in the evening or night.
Winds will be southwesterly or variable in direction. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
The sea areas around the island will be slight. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
