Today marks seven years since the 2019 Sri Lanka Easter bombings, with religious programmes scheduled across the island today (21) in remembrance of the victims.
According to National Catholic Social Communications Director Fr Jude Krishantha Fernando, commemorative events will be held at all churches this morning. These include the ringing of church bells, a two-minute silence, lighting of candles or oil lamps, and special prayer services.
A special mass is also due to be held at St. Anthony’s Shrine under the patronage of Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.
Police said a special traffic plan will be in effect in the vicinity of the shrine, with restrictions imposed on roads from 7.00 a.m. until the conclusion of the service.
In addition, a prayer walk will commence at 4.00 p.m. from Maris Stella College Grounds, with the participation of clergy and laity, and will conclude at the premises of St. Sebastian’s Church in Katuwapitiya. (NewsWire)
