Showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 pm today (23), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces and in the Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Ampara and Batticaloa districts.
Showers may occur in Batticaloa, Ampara and Hambantota districts in the morning.
Misty conditions can be expected in some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-central and Uva provinces and in the Vavuniya and Kurunegala districts in the morning.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil.
