US President Donald Trump has cancelled a planned visit by envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Pakistan for talks related to the ongoing conflict with Iran.
The White House had earlier announced on Friday that the pair would travel on Saturday. However, Trump later said the trip had been called off, writing on Truth Social that there was “too much time wasted on traveling, too much work.”
He also added: “We have all the cards, they have none! If they want to talk, all they have to do is call.”
The comments came shortly after Abbas Araghchi concluded talks in Islamabad, where he said he had presented Iran’s position on a possible framework to end the war.
Araghchi also said he was still waiting to see whether the United States was genuinely serious about diplomacy.
The cancellation adds further uncertainty to diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Washington and Tehran. (Newswire)
