US President Donald Trump was rushed out of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington after gunfire disrupted the high-profile event, according to multiple international media reports.
The incident took place at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night, where guests reportedly took cover under tables as panic spread through the ballroom.
The United States Secret Service later confirmed that Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and other protected officials were safe following the security scare.
Trump later said on Truth Social that the suspected shooter had been apprehended, while praising the swift response of law enforcement authorities.
