
Showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 pm today (27), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers are likely in some places in the Southern province in the morning.
Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Uva and North-Central provinces and in the Kurunegala district.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Anuradhapura, Kurunegala and Badulla districts in the morning
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are likely at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
Winds will be south-easterly or variable. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. The sea areas around the island will be slight.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
