The Ministry of Sports has not yet issued any official statement regarding reports of a possible change in leadership at Sri Lanka Cricket, Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage said.
Responding to media queries on claims that the current Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) president, Shammi Silva, may step down and be replaced by former Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Eran Wickramaratne, the minister said no formal announcement has been made so far.
“We have not made any official statement as a ministry on this matter yet. These are reports circulating on social media,” he said.
He added that the ministry plans to hold a media briefing and will issue an official statement in due course.
“We expect to hold a media briefing and will release an official statement to the media. We can discuss further after that,” he said. (Newswire)
