Shammi Silva, President of Sri Lanka Cricket, and the SLC Executive Committee have decided to resign following a special committee meeting held today.
The resignation ends Silva’s seven-year tenure as head of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Earlier reports said Silva was expected to step down following a request from the government.
Reports also said former MP and State Minister Eran Wickramaratne is likely to be appointed interim president of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Silva was first elected President of Sri Lanka Cricket in February 2019 and retained the position after winning multiple elections. (Newswire)
