Five suspects, including prison officers, have been arrested in connection with the death of an inmate at Magazine Prison, police said.
The incident occurred on Monday (27) inside the Magazine prison premises in Borella, prompting an investigation by Borella Police and the Colombo South Crimes Division.
Three suspects, including a jailer and two prison guards, were initially arrested and produced before court on Tuesday (28), after which they were remanded until May 06.
Police later arrested two additional prison guards on the same day and handed them over to Borella Police.
