Iran says war with US will ‘likely’ resume

Iran’s armed forces have warned that a resumption of conflict with the United States and Israel is “likely”, claiming there is evidence Washington is not committed to any agreements or treaties.

In a statement carried by Fars News Agency, senior military official Mohammad Jafar Asadi said recent actions and statements by US officials suggest a lack of commitment to diplomatic efforts.

“The actions and statements of US officials are primarily media-driven aimed first at preventing a drop in oil prices and second at extricating themselves from the mess they have created,” he said.

Asadi added that Iran’s armed forces are “fully prepared for any new adventures or foolishness from the Americans”.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, with indirect negotiations and proposals reportedly under discussion.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with Iran’s latest peace proposal, saying it includes demands he “can’t agree to”.

There has been no immediate response from US officials to the latest statement by Iran’s military leadership. (Newswire)
