Free Lawyers’ Association has called for an investigation into remarks made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake regarding court decisions during a May Day rally.
The association alleged that the President had made a statement about a case that is still pending before court, including references to a decision yet to be delivered.
It said the remarks had triggered significant public concern, noting that the statement went beyond a general comment on judicial processes and included specific references to timelines.
The association urged the Chief Justice to investigate the matter, stating that the statement clearly indicates dates and relates to a judgment yet to be delivered in an ongoing case. (Newswire)
