
The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for heavy rain in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-western, and Northern provinces and the Galle, Trincomalee, and Batticaloa districts.
Per the advisory, effective until 05.00 pm tomorrow (12), red alerts have been issued to 20 districts and amber alerts to 05 districts.
Issuing the advisory, the Met Department said due to the influence of the low-pressure area located to the northeast of Sri Lanka, Heavy falls above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-western and Northern provinces and in the Galle, Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by heavy rain, strong winds and thundershowers. (Newswire)
