New LPL Franchise Galle Gallants Announced Ahead of Season 6 season

A new franchise, , has officially been announced ahead of the sixth season of the Lanka Premier League, which is scheduled to be held from July 17 to August 8, 2026.

The franchise will operate under Gallant Sports and Media LLC, led by Kiran Mantripragada and Uday Kiran Namballa, who will oversee the team’s cricket, commercial and media operations.

The new team has also confirmed the appointment of former Sri Lanka cricketer and coach Pubudu Dassanayake as Head Coach for its debut season.

LPL Director Samantha Dodanwela welcomed the franchise’s entry into the tournament, stating that the continued involvement of committed franchise owners would help strengthen the league’s long-term vision and commercial sustainability.

The ownership group said the franchise aims to build a competitive side anchored by Sri Lankan talent while also attracting international experience and commercial partnerships.

Ahead of the LPL Season 6 player auction, the franchise said it is assessing several overseas players, including David Warner, Kane Williamson, Sunil Narine and Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

However, the franchise noted that all player acquisitions remain subject to auction results, board approvals, contractual agreements and required No Objection Certificates.

The team has also appointed Sri Lankan-born American cricketer Roy Silva as Strategic Partner and Chief Operating Officer, while Sharath Sriramoju will serve as Chief Strategy Officer overseeing marketing and brand initiatives.

The franchise said further announcements regarding player signings, partnerships and fan engagement activities will be made ahead of the tournament. (Newswire)
