
A total of 5,289 Tri Service personnel have been granted promotions to their next respective ranks in line with the 17th National War Heroes’ Commemoration Day, which falls on May 19.
According to the government, the promotions were awarded in recognition of the personnel’s dedicated service to the nation.
The National War Heroes’ Commemoration Day is observed annually on May 19 to honour members of the Tri Forces and recognise their contribution towards restoring peace and safeguarding the country’s sovereignty.
Authorities said the promotions were granted based on recommendations made by the respective Service Commanders and in line with established administrative procedures of the Tri Forces.
The move coincides with this year’s commemoration marking 17 years since the end of Sri Lanka’s armed conflict. (Newswire)
