The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism has launched a revamped official website along with a new common digital platform for Sri Lanka’s diplomatic missions abroad as part of the government’s digital transformation initiative.
The new platform was launched on Monday (18) during a ceremony attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath, deputy ministers, senior ministry officials and heads of Sri Lankan missions overseas who joined virtually.
Addressing the event, Herath said the initiative aimed to improve public service delivery through greater efficiency, accessibility, transparency and accountability.
He added that the platform would strengthen Sri Lanka’s digital engagement with citizens, overseas Sri Lankan communities, foreign partners, investors and tourists.
Under the first phase of the project, seven Sri Lankan missions, including those in New Delhi, Malé, Cairo, Bucharest, Brasília, Wellington and The Hague, have been integrated into the unified platform.
According to the ministry, the system is expected to be expanded in phases with the aim of bringing all Sri Lankan missions abroad under a standardized digital platform.
The initiative was jointly implemented by several divisions of the ministry together with the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT), the Information and Communication Tech (Newswire)
